Day close and cash count: what the drawer should hold, on one page

StoreDesk is free for as long as you use it: unlimited bills, GST invoices, stock and khata on the Free plan, which never expires and shows the last 30 days of history on screen.

At closing time two questions matter: what did we sell today, and is the money in the drawer the money that should be there? StoreDesk answers both on one sheet, from the same records the rest of the app reads, so the figures cannot disagree with Sales or Khata.

Open Day close

On the Sales page, tap Day close. Above the count, the sheet shows the day:

  • sales, after returns, and the returns themselves;
  • cash in and UPI in;
  • udhar given — sold on udhar and not paid at the counter;
  • udhar collected — khata payments received today;
  • UPI still waiting, with the number of bills, for bills where you are collecting by UPI and have not yet confirmed the money arrived;
  • expenses paid from the drawer, and expenses paid another way.

Nothing on the sheet is added up on the phone. Each figure comes from the server, from the same place the rest of the app takes it.

Count the drawer

Type the cash you count. The sheet shows what the drawer should hold and the difference, so a short or extra amount is visible the same evening rather than at the end of the month. Add a note if you know why, and save.

Counting twice on the same day replaces the first count, so a mistake is corrected by counting again. A bill made after the count is not lost; it shows the next time you close.

Expenses: from the drawer, or paid another way

When you record an expense, say how it was paid. Only cash taken from the drawer reduces what the drawer should hold; a supplier paid by UPI does not. An expense recorded without a mode is counted as cash, and the sheet says how much of its figure is that assumption, so you always know what you are looking at.

Print it, or send it on WhatsApp

Print summary sends the day close to your receipt printer, by the same ways a receipt goes. It prints in English on every roll, like your receipts; there is no A4 day close. Or send the day’s summary on WhatsApp — handy when a helper closes the counter and the owner is not there.

Who can close the day

The owner, on every plan. On Pro, a staff login can close the day too: it opens only the counter, so it can count the drawer without seeing reports, profit or expenses.

Free and Pro

Free never expires and never limits your bills. Pro is ₹199 a month or ₹1,999 a year, and adds your full history, reports and profit, udhar reminders and a staff login.

Try Pro free for 30 days from inside the app — no card and nothing charged. It ends on its own and your shop goes back to Free, with nothing deleted.
