A GST bill for your shop: what StoreDesk prints, and what it does not do yet
StoreDesk is free for as long as you use it: unlimited bills, GST invoices, stock and khata on the Free plan, which never expires and shows the last 30 days of history on screen.
This page is about one thing: what a GST bill from StoreDesk carries, and where it stops. A shop that knows the boundary before it starts never has to find it on a customer’s invoice.
Without a GST number
GST is optional for each shop. Without a GSTIN you print plain bills, and the bill does not call itself a tax invoice. You can turn GST on later without losing any bill you have already made.
With a GST number
Enter your GSTIN in Settings and turn GST on. From then on a bill that carries your GSTIN is titled TAX INVOICE, and every invoice gets the next number in an unbroken sequence — the number is given by our server, never typed, so there are no gaps and no repeats.
- Each item can carry its own GST rate, from 0% to 28%, and one bill can mix rates. Set the rate once on the item, or on the line while you bill.
- A price can include GST, or GST can be added on top. You choose for the shop, and you can change it on a single line.
- The bill shows the taxable value and the GST split as CGST and SGST, half each, rate by rate.
- The bill is a PDF the customer can keep, and a link you can send on WhatsApp.
A bill keeps the GST details it was issued with. If you register later, the bills you made before registering keep their original title and do not suddenly print a GSTIN they never had.
Returns and credit notes
When goods come back, StoreDesk issues a numbered credit note. The GST on it is reversed at the rate it was charged, item by item, and it never reverses more tax than the bill charged in the first place. An exchange is a return and a new bill, so both documents stay correct.
Where it stops — the honest boundary
CGST and SGST are the right split for a sale inside your own state, and that is the sale StoreDesk is built for. Please read these before you rely on it:
- IGST for a sale to another state is not built yet. If you sell across state lines, check with your CA first.
- HSN codes are not printed on the bill.
- StoreDesk does not prepare or file GSTR returns, and an e-invoice or an e-way bill is not built either.
What you can hand your CA is the GST summary: on Pro, Reports shows the tax by rate and the profit for any period you choose.
Free and Pro
Free never expires and never limits your bills. Pro is ₹199 a month or ₹1,999 a year, and adds your full history, reports and profit, udhar reminders and a staff login.
Try Pro free for 30 days from inside the app — no card and nothing charged. It ends on its own and your shop goes back to Free, with nothing deleted.
